Underrated Disney Movies
Underrated Disney Movies
Just a heads up right away this blog post is going to be 100% my own opinion. If you do not agree with my opinion please feel free to comment. When it comes to Disney I would love to be able to see the different sides.
Since Disney first began I believe that there have been underrated Disney movies. You can ask a million Disney fan what is an underrated Disney movie and you will get a million different answers. Let's see how many I can name in this blog shall we? Also I am going to attempt to explain why I believe that they are underrated.
Let's begin!
Treasure Planet
This movie just doesn't get the credit that it deserves. Don't ask me why because honestly I don't know, but it just doesn't. It's a really good movie that follows the story of Treasure Island but in space!!! I mean who can't love that?! I mean you have crazy robots, Morph is my absolute favorite thing in the world, and the villain is a cyborg! It even has a hint of romance. It's just amazing! If you haven't seen it then go watch it right now!
Big Hero 6
Everybody who saw Big Hero 6 when it first came out LOVED it! The only reason that it doesn't get the credit that it deserves is because Frozen came out right around the same time. So while everybody was bingeing on Let it Go we were forgetting about the amazing marshmallow shaped robot who helps to save the world with his little human sidekick. Yes, I would like to believe that Hiro is the sidekick.
This movie just touches your very soul. We have the genius kid who loses his brother in a freak accident and ends up trying to avenge his murder. Besides that the other five "superheros" all have their own lovable qualities!
The Goofy Movie
We need to Stand Out because we're seeing things Eye to Eye! If you don't know those two songs have you even lived? This movie should be all purposes be a classic! I mean for crying out loud it has GOOFY!!! How many people if you ask if Goofy has any kids would just tell you no? Probably way too many and that's just sad.
This movie tells you the story about Max and how he is so embarrassed by his dad. His dad, the lovable Goofy, decides to take him on a roadtrip for the summer when all that he really wants to do is stay home and be with the girl he likes. It's a heart warming story really!
Also "do you ever wonder why we wear these gloves all the time?"
Emperors New Groove
"BOOM BABY!!!" "You threw off my groove!" "By all account it doesn't make sense." And the iconic quotes go on and on. I mean who couldn't love a movie about a spoiled Emperor who gets turned into a llama and goes on the adventure of a lifetime? I honestly think that people do love this movie more than they say, but they just forget about it.
Aristocats
I saw something recently that said something along the lines of did the create the name and thought it was punny so they had to create a whole story around it or did they create the story and then create the punny name?
What is there not to love? First we have this crazy story line about this elderly duchess that loves her cats so much that she has decided to even leave them something in her will. This of course angers her butler, Edgar, who decides to get rid of the cats. This leads the cats on an amazing journey! I mean who doesn't love Thomas O'malley, O'malley they alley cat? And I'm pretty sure that we all know the lyrics at least partially to Everybody Wants to Be a Cat!

Oliver and Company
Why should we worry? Why should we care? And why was this adorable story overlooked? The well loved story of the orphan Oliver Twist was turned into a movie about cats and dogs and being loved and being kidnapped and it's just amazing!
Why this story is swept under the rug by many people I will never know. But then again I was raised on Billy Joel and the fact that he voices Dodger has always just fascinated me.
Fox and the Hound
"Copper, you're my best friend."
"And you're mine too, Tod."
"And we'll always be friends forever. Won't we?"
"Yeah, forever!"
Because you know who needed a heart anyways? The tale of two best friends who really shouldn't be best friends and then have to go their separate ways or kill each other has a place in all of our hearts and if you don't think so then you don't have a heart!
Also you're lying if you don't tear up a little bit when Tod's owner takes him away and leaves him in the wild because well that was the part of our childhood that scared us for life!
The Great Mouse Detective
Honesty time: I have never seen this movie. I can't tell you anything about it. That's how I know it underrated because me a self professed Disney Addict has never seen it. Believe me it's on my list.
The Black Cauldron
This movie like The Great Mouse Detective I have never seen it. I know that it's a bit of a darker of a story line and it kind of was weird to some people and maybe that was why not a lot of people have seen it.
Also on my list!
Atlantis
Okay can we talk about this movie for a minute?! I mean you've got this group of misfits that's following the map that is held by another misfit to the Lost City of Atlantis which everybody believes is just a myth and not only that but they find it! The love story which doesn't end with them kissing because come on don't we all know that love takes time.
I'm really at a lost why this isn't more watched. I'm at a lost why I don't watch this more. Lost just like the Lost Empire.
Dinosaur
Disney World has a ride Dinosaur which follows the same track of Indiana Jones. For those who have ridden this ride and wondered where on earth the idea of this came from it kind of sort of came from the movie of the same name. Well at least the Dinosaur that you bring back to our time is the main character for this movie.
This movie takes place during the time right before all of the dinosaurs went extinct. Even though I did watch this movie I think that it was just ok. The visuals were kind of weird and the story line was a little lacking.
Song of the South
It's a Zipidee Do Dah Day! This movie a lot of people have not seen. A lot of people have not heard of it. Want to know why? Because this movie is not sold in the US. However you know most of the characters if you have ever been to Disneyland or Disney World.
There's Brier Bear, Brier Fox, Brier Rabbit, and the rest. You also probably know all of the songs like Zippidee Do Dah and Got to be Moving Along and Laughing Place. We all know these characters but we don't really know where they came from.
I could go on a rant about why it's been banned from the US but that would get to political and this is not a place for politics.
I know that I missed some movies, but these were the ones we thought of first. By we I mean me and my Facebook friends. So tell me what do you think is the best underrate movie even if it didn't make this list. And why do you think it's so underrated?
