Spiderman Far From Home Review
Spider-Man Far From Home Review
Disclaimer: I am aware that this was technically not a Disney Movie
Storyline:
The world after Endgame is kind of interesting for everyone in it. Those people who disappeared with the Snap and are now back have to come to the realization that the people who were not Snapped are now five years older than them. Peter Parker and all of his friends were Snapped away and now have Blipped back so they are all still in high school.
Peter Parker is still your average neighborhood Spider Man and honestly he is feeling like he needs a vacation. Thanks to his school science trip to Europe he is hoping to get just that. He wants a vacation so bad that when Nick Fury tries to call him he pushes those calls straight to voicemail.
On the trip Peter is trying to get close to MJ and he's hoping that he can make her his girlfriend by the end. When Nick Fury completely takes over the trip everything changes. See elsewhere in the world the world is being attacked by the creatures that are called Elementals they are being stopped by this new superhero that the other students on Peter's trip starts calling Mysterio because he's a mysterious stranger.
Nick Fury introduces Peter to Mysterio and we find out that he is from another version of Earth and that the Elementals came to his earth and destroyed it. He followed them to our Earth and is hoping to stop them from destroying this Earth too. Peter is reluctant to help, but like I said Nick Fury hijacks his trip and sends the class to exactly where Peter is needed to help fight the Elementals.
Another important thing to note is the the original reason Nick was contacting Peter was to give him these smart glasses that Tony left for him in his will. After they defeat the last Elemental Peter and Mysterio have a heart to heart where Peter confesses that he is not ready to be the next Iron Man and after some thoughts decides that that should be Mysterio. He ends up handing over EDITH (the glasses) to Mysterio and leaves.
During all of the time in between the fighting Peter has been talking to MJ and MJ has been watching him. When he gets back from handing EDITH over to Mysterio he askes MJ to go for a walk with him. He's just about to tell her how he feels for her when she says "Are Spider Man?" He denies it until she shows him a piece of equipment that she had taken from the last fight scene that had his webs on it. As they are looking at it it start projecting part of the last fight scene and they realize that the whole thing, Elementals that is, has been a lie, which means that Mysterio is nothing but a fraud.
Quentin Beck, or as we know him as Mysterio, used to work for Tony Stark back in the day. As we all know Tony wasn't the nicest when it came to his employees and he ended up making Quentin hate him along with some others that used to work for him. Quentin knew about EDITH and wanted to have possession on her so bad that he decided that they needed to come up with a plan to make Peter trust him. Thus the Elementals were born. Quentin and his crew created drones that would fly around and project these scenes of devastation for all to see.
Peter comes face to face with Quentin in Berlin and finds it hard to know what is real and what isn't. He is almost killed and is in fact run over by a train. He calls Happy and Happy comes to get him. Together they realize that Quentin is going to go after Peter's class mates as he accidentally told Quentin that MJ, Ned, and possibly Betty (Ned's current girlfriend) know about the projections. They find Peter's class in London. Happy goes to help the classmates and Peter heads off to fight Mysterio again.
Peter wins the fight but only barely. MJ, Ned, Betty, Flash, and Happy all escape as well. As soon as all of the drones stop MJ runs off to find Peter and they have a romantic moment.
AFTER THE CREDIT SCENES MAN!!! The first one: Peter takes MJ on a date which is swinging through New York together. She's freaking out and after he puts her down she states that she's never going to do that again. Just as Peter is about to leave back to his Superhero Duties an breaking news report comes on and it's Mysterio and his "last words". He tells everybody that the drones were all following Spider Man's commands. Also Spider Man's real name is Peter Parker! OH SNAP!!!
The second one: The Nick Fury that's been there the whole time this was going on wasn't actually Nick Fury but was in fact a Kree pretending to be Nick Fury as the real Nick Fury is in fact off world.
Characters:
Peter Parker:
Peter has been struggling since the death of his hero and mentor Tony Stark. He is still doing his job though of being Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man. But he's tired and all he really wants to do is go on his school trip and spend time with the girl that he likes. He just wants a break and who can blame him?
When he's given EDITH and sees the note that Tony left for him about being the Next Iron Man he just doesn't think he's ready. He tries to justify it by thinking that he can trust Mysterio to be the next Iron Man but he is so wrong. Slowly he begins to realize that he is more ready than he thinks to be a great Avenger!
MJ:
We don't really get a lot of the characters stories about what happened to them during the Snap or after the Blip but we can tell that all of Peter's friends were also snapped away and that's why they are all the same age and still in high school. MJ is one of those.
She's still her "fun, loving self" and yes I say that sarcastically as she still looks at everything as black and white and she loves all of the dark history of the places that surround them. She's been kind of watching Peter though and through watching him has found out that he is in fact Spider Man. "It was kind of obvious." She said. She also tries not to lie, but she does tell one lie when she tells Peter that the only reason she's been watching him is to figure out if he's Spider Man.
Ned:
Ned has one plan for their trip to Europe and that is to be the American Bachelors living it up and flirting with all of the European girls. All of those plans change when he ends up sitting by a girl named Betty on the plane trip. By the end of the plane flight they are boyfriend and girlfriend.
Because he is otherwise occupied Ned isn't in the story that much except to be hit by a dart by Nick Fury and to be caught in a Farris Wheel with Betty and saved by the "Night Monkey."
He and Betty break up on the returning plane flight home and they both seem to be pretty okay with it.
Mysterio:
The guy that you kind of thought was going to be the villain thanks to the name and then the trailers made you think that he was going to be a good guy, but then he ends up being a bad guy. I have to give him credit though his planned was well thought out. He's obviously had a lot of time to think about this and to get his revenge on Tony.
I guess I could say that he's the villain that you really wish wasn't a villain because let's be honest at this point in time the world is lacking on Avengers.
Thoughts:
I really liked this movie. Throughout the movie you just found yourself wondering what was going to happen. Even in the scene where Peter gives Quentin the glasses and you know that something else has to happen because that can't be the end of the movie, but you still weren't sure what it was going to be.
Personal opinion: A good movie should have romance, comedy, tragedy, action, and a moral. I believe that Spider Man Far From Home had all of that. MJ and Peter finally getting together was your romance. Ned and Betty was your comedic relief, thinking about Tony and the legacy that he left behind was your tragedy, all of those fight scenes gave it your action, and Never Give Up or You are more than you believe you are is your moral.
What did you think of the movie? What else would you like to see me talk about? Please let me know. And as always have a magical day!!!
I agree, there was so much to it. I always enjoy some of a love story ❤️ I liked the review!!
